The Apartheid Museum showcases South Africa in the turbulent years of the apartheid era. During this period, millions of people were subjected to a life of servitude, discrimination and oppression until the country was liberated in 1994 and became a democratic society.

The museum illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid through 22 individual exhibition areas, including dramatic film footage. Arrive at the Apartheid Museum and listen to a short explanation of the museum exhibits. Explore the museum at your leisure until it’s time to depart. There are 22 individual exhibition areas that showcase different time periods under brutal apartheid rule.

The exhibits have been assembled and organised by a multi-disciplinary team of curators, filmmakers, historians and designers. They include provocative film footage, photographs, text panels and artefacts illustrating the events and human stories that showcase a turbulent period in South Africa during the apartheid era.

At the end of the museum tour, your guide drives you back to your accommodation in Johannesburg.
